Chris Carrier has a history of getting things done.
- Chris dealt with the Federal and Provincial governments
regularly and knows how to bring money into Collingwood
and area. Chris can use his experience to benefit Collingwood.
- Permanent Collingwood campus for Georgian College.
- Pushed Highway #26 Re-alignment back as a priority to
complete in 2012.
- Sourced 10.4 million dollars of Provincial of Ontario
funding for local road improvements.
- Implemented a 1.4 million dollar renovation to Collingwood
Regional Airport, by negotiating funding from the Federal
and Provincial governments.
- Approved funding for improvements to local public transit/annual
ridership - yielding increase of 66000 rides from 2006
to 2010!
- Drafted inter-municipal public transit agreement between
Wasaga Beach and Collingwood.
- 7 million dollar downtown revitalization by sourcing
5 million dollars contribution from the Federal/Provincial
governments and downtown merchant association.
- Refurbishment of Collingwood Cenotaph 50/50 partnership
with Federal Government show a picture of cenotaph re-dedication
ceremony.
- 1.2 million dollars of Provincial/Federal funding towards
affordable housing units.
- Established a 150 acre business park through a strategic
private developer and 1.5 million dollars from Federal
government to extend municipal services to the park.
Chris has a track record with the environment.
- Protecting our water by strongly and vocally
opposing Site 41.
- Member, and later Chair, of the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation
Authority
- Promoted a Leeds Gold Library/Municipal Office, and
finished under budget! Negotiated $800k plus in Federal
grants and $900k plus of community fundraising.
- Fought to save the Silver Creek Wetlands, and won.
